WESC Bag Pipe Pro DJ Headphones

So there were not many reviews of the fantastic WESC Bag Pipe Pro DJ Headphones online when I first began the search for a tasty pair of muffs, so I decided to create one that may help out in the difficult decision to purchase a quality pair of headphones for tearing up the wheels of steel, decks of plastic, occasional ipod or GameBOY.

Faux leather, 57mm drivers and the beefiest of plastic housings characterize these monster pro DJ heaphones. The feeling of wearing and listening to them can only be described as 'pretty fat'. The plastic earpieces look to have been cast directly from a pair of Pioneer HDJ-1000 DJ headphones, as they feature the EXACT same contours. Kinda like when you're in Mexico, and they have sunglasses that look like Oakleys, feel like Oakleys, but the logo is printed on rather than embossed. However, this gear, like I said, is 'pretty fat,' and the design and overall fit and finish is top notch. Packaging is clean and sexy, a look that fits in a category all its own. If Michael York were a DJ from the future, he would definitely wear these with some tight white pants.

Looks aside these blast really excellent sound quality. My initial impression is that they sound slightly more hollow when compared with the HDJ-1000's, but still very high quality, with lots of BASS and lots of power. However, I find the WESC Bag Pipe to be much more comfortable to wear over longer peroids of time than the HDJ-1000's. The muffs on the WESC surround your outer ear, so that they're not actually pressing your ears up against your head, unless of course you have huge ears.

Ultimately, if it were up to me to choose between the WESC and the HDJ-1000's, I would choose the WESC Bag Pipe, and I do, because of the very comparable sound quality, superior fit and finish, as well as outstanding style.

  1. UPDATE!!!!!
Soo these headphones bit the dust when I pulled them out of my backpack at a show and the cord pulled out of the driver assembly. It was not even moulded to prevent it from coming out, it's simply glued into the hole with some sort of adhesive. I Used some crazy glue to repair it, so we'll see how that holds up, but extremely disappointed with what seemed like a solid build headphone.
